Once I get a few more fill ups the highway mileage should be worked out of my avg. Still holding steady at 18.3-18.5 city though

Ouch, but it's only 2 fill ups

It should change after more fill ups

nope, just look, he's only filling up after like 4 gallons of gas, so its not getting a very good average, but even so, on those 4 gallons, he's still getting around that gas mileage. What he NEEDS to do is to stop filling up after only using a 1/4 tank of gas before filling up and start letting it get down to the 1/4 tank mark and THEN fillup so that hes tracking more miles and gallons

Now guys don't hate on me now for getting such good mileage. Now I know I don't run it down low sometimes.I'm planning on running it down low this tank but I promise it won't change much. My miles are mostly highway and it doesn't really change no matter what I refill it at. I am getting about what the EPA rates for my 3.0.

Nothing you can say will stop my CB. I refuse to believe that any 6 cylinder truck is getting better MPGs than I am .

Why you say that? Do you have a 4 cylinder with poor mpgs? Like I said, my miles are almost all highway and I try not to use the a/c. I also stay on top of my maintenace. I'm at almost 103k miles now. Fresh plugs, wires, transmission fluid, and differential fluid. I'm just barely below half a tank now with 190 miles on it (thats better than normal). Should be filling up within the next few days.

That seems to be pretty good for a 4.0 and 4x4! The 2001 4.0 4x4 we used to have averaged around 18.

yeah, I have the 4 cyl and my last billion or so tanks have been under 20mpg. But when the heat index is +100 on your average day it's hard not to have the A/C on all the time (that and my 'commute' to work is under 5 miles).

As far as Maintenance goes, this thing only has 15-16k miles yet so there really isn't much to do other than oil changes, tire pressure, ect.

I know that it's probably my combo of short trips, A/C load and the suckamatic transmission that are killing, but it's still not fun to get V8 mileage out a puny 4 cyl engine .

Four cylinder with an auto, I see. If you had a manual, I'd say you'd be getting better mpgs. I can definitely understand the a/c ordeal you are having. It has been in the 90s over the last 2 weeks here and I have used it some myself.
My worst mpgs are always in the winter when its 20 degrees or colder. I averaged one tank that was 16.2! But I usually start the truck and let it heat up.
