Ac blows through defroster and onto floor from under dash, but only a breath through the vents. Any suggestions as to cause? Blend door actuator works, but not sure door is moving. Problem began as an occasional nuisance , then advanced to a permanent condition. In the beginning something internal would made rattle when this would occur. Would appreciate any help on this.

Hello, new guy here...


I have a 98 ranger 2.5. Its production was 4/98.
I have the same problem with the A/C suddenly blowing from the defrost. I know its a well documented problem, however, I have NO actuator above the vent box. I thought maybe its a 97 unit, left over but not. Has anyone esle seen this? I just dont see it. Its not there.

Vacuum leak in one of your myriad hoses under the dash and hood. Go get a vacuum tester (also useful for bleeding brakes), and start your search. I had it on my 1999 ORP 4x4 - my electric hubs quit working at the same time. It's a dead giveaway, and fairly common with the Rangers...
