2022 Ranger Manual Tranny?
This subject may have already been discussed, so I hope I am not beating a dead horse here. Does anyone have any good insight if the new 2022 Ranger will be offered (finally) with a manual transmission? I know it is offered everywhere else in the world the Ranger is made, but not the US. I keep seeing rumors online that they may use the 7-speed manual from the new Bronco as an option on the Ranger since they are both built from the same platform ..but its all been rumor. Any ideas when Ford may bring some clarity on this?

That is a new rumor to me. If DJ sees this, maybe he will comment, he works for a Ford dealer, sometimes he has inside info

Social media rumors are entertaining.

Re: 2022 Ranger Manual Tranny?
In a perfect world, absolutely. It would be awesome. However I'm afraid it is unlikely. It would be good for Ford to spread the development costs of the Getrag 7spd and apply it to Ranger but my gut says it is unlikely. I still remain hopeful but internet rumors are just that: rumors.
2022 was presumed the model year for the actual ALL NEW Ranger to drop but this was prior to pandemic. I assumed it would be pushed to 2022 because of CV19. This is because the 2019 Ranger we got was a stop-gap truck that has been available worldwide since 2012 but massaged over for our and Canada's markets while simultaneously deep into development of it's replacement.

Yes, it follows the 2012+ T6 chassis with exception that the front frame horns are different because of our 5MPH bumper legislation and regulations here., so US and CA Spec'd Rangers are slightly different from that perspective.
The rumor I recalled about a manual trans option was only in the Diesel version which is unlikely we'll get. Manufacturing says "there's no market for that here in the US." I inquired as to what demographic were they asking? Seemed like 55+ year old house wives?

Re: 2022 Ranger Manual Tranny?
Manual transmissions just won't sell and would be a net loss for Ford. A normally aspirated V6 might be what Ford needs for the Ranger.

Re: 2022 Ranger Manual Tranny?
I wish they would put the manual in! I doubt it will be coming though. I have been shopping for a new Ranger for a few weeks and currently and for at least 2022 no options exist for transmissions. What I was thinking is since the Ranger and the Mustang share the ten speed auto in slightly different forms, that tells me that the 6 Speed Getrag and Tremec from the Mustang line up could easily work in the Ranger without Ford changing a lot of things on the truck. Both of those are great transmissions, the Tremec is bulletproof and the Getrag with rev matching is simply sweet to drive. So, Ford does have 3 manual trans options to offer folks if they really wanted to. Would not hold my breathe for it though. Cannot remember the last time I saw a manual transmission in a newer truck from any of the big 3. That being said, the ten speed does not disappoint in the new Ranger mated to the Ecoboost. It is much more gutsy than my 2005 Ranger v6 and auto. The 10 speed gets the gears quickly. While test driving I would check the dash and see that I was no place near the gear assumed I would be. At 30 mph they were already into 5th! The shifts down are quick and precise too, so needing to pass or get more go is no problem.

Re: 2022 Ranger Manual Tranny?
Less than 10% of new car, SUV, and truck owners might be interested in a manual transmission. The manufacturers are looking at these numbers for their decisions.
I hope Ford never decides on trying the trouble prone CVTs.

Re: 2022 Ranger Manual Tranny?
Manual trans is going to be like phone booths, just will not see them here anymore. I just sold a 2019 Mustang that had the six speed. I loved it. Should I be ashamed to say I dated a girl that had never used either one lol .

I dated a couple of girls in High School who thought using an auto tranny was too complicated.

As someone who prefers to row through gears myself, what are you specifically looking for to want/need/desire a manual trans so much so that you would sacrifice your drive train warranty for it's availability?
The new engine has a bunch of more power, much can be had for the tuning side but now that's becoming an issue thanks to the EPA chopping heads right now pulling an ATF move on the industry going door to door to companies and tuner shops before going after smaller shops and eventually you know they're seizing all the customer records too. But before that, there is a ton of parts available for the 2019+
.

Sounds like another conspiracy theory......is that from Qanon? I never could understand tuning an engine that has 270 horsepower from a 2.3L . Tuning in my days meant boring out the cylinders, high compression pistons, high lift cams and tuning the carb or carbs. Now tuning is something a geek on a computer does. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I drove a 2020 Ranger as a loaner when my F150 was in the shop and it had a lot of power......a lot.

Re: 2022 Ranger Manual Tranny?
as it stands right now, the 2022 ranger remains unchanged from the 19-21.
