Default License plate mount

Greetings. I have a recently purchased 2000 Ranger extended cab. I wonder if anyone might know the screw/bolt size and pitch for the front license plate (direct to bumper) mount. I've gone through every piece in my coffee can and still can't find something that fits. I'm hoping for an answer here before spending a small fortune at the hardware store.

Many thanks.

If I'm not wrong... the Plate Mount is either a black plastic molded piece or just two plastic inserts.

When I replace my Blk Plastic Plate I used 1/4" S/S Sheet Metal Screws.

Right or wrong, I don't know but it works.

I am mounting the OEM Blk Plastic Plate on my '03's Winch Bumper, I cut the nubs off the back of the Backing Place and will be drilling through-holes in the bumper, then using 10-32 S/S Machine screws to hole the Plastic Plate and the license Plate.

Tell us about your mounting, how, what type of screw is used... i.e. machine screw, sheet metal screws ?

Thanks Scrambler82. I'll be addressing this in a couple of months when I return home. I'll try the 1/4" first. Failing that I may, like you, just drill through the existing nut.

Thanks again.

Bisbee,
Do you have a Tap Set, try a Tap that looks close, if it fits chase the threads through.
All of my vehicles had plastic insert with Regular Sheet Metal Screws.
once you get home, check to see what type of threads are there and IF the Bolt/Screw goes into a plastic insert or not !
