Re: cat converters
If the setup is the same as on my 2011 4.0, the left and right cats are not the same. There will be bungs in the plumbing for the sensors. Make sure they are California compliant, very important for you. The best price I found were for bolt on models on Rock Auto. Be aware, if you break any studs on the exhaust manifold, you will need to get them from a Ford Dealer. The studs to connect the left and right side should be with the right side cat. I only had to replace the left side, so had to replace the broken studs with some stainless steel bolts from the hardware store.
As far as weld on models, check Rock Auto for those as well. Make sure you get ones listed as compatible with your truck or you'll risk future issues due to a possible improper match.
