This is what I could noticeably see. I can say without a doubt the Engine had some aftermarket racing parts. Plus it has VVTi which is exactly like Honda's VTEC system.

and only other option besides engine swap is forced induction and your transmission would probably shit itself

I don't understand threads like this so excuse me... why would want to modify your vehicle to beat a celica? Maybe if the celica had a flat tire and you had a 15 second head start, then you could take him. Realistically he will own you every time. There is nothing you can do to your truck other then forced induction or an engine swap that will make you light and fast enough to beat him.

if you really want to beat the celica its going to take more than just bolt on mods. he has you in the two key areas, he has more power and less weight. to beat him your going to have to do something like a power adder (turbo or supercharger) or a motor swap. you could also consider using spray i guess. all in all though unless your building a race truck i just say stick with what you got. its a ranger, drive it like one. just my .02

Peak torque at 5000 for me is over 500 foot pounds of torque at the wheels. At 8500 its 600+ whp.

Make fun of what you want, I just concentrate more on keeping all 4 wheels from slipping in 3rd gear at 32psi when my wastegate opens.

In that case....There is NOTHING you can do that will make your truck gain anything worth the money you're going to spend trying.

Swap the engine for a 5.0
Swap the rear end for an 8.8 w/ limited slip
Then you might be able to take your friend's celica....Or just buy a car
