I drive a 2007 Kenworth W-900. The starter went out so I had to use my 2001 Ranger to pull start her. Dropped her down into low and she did it without a problem. 3.0 engine.

I towed a neighbors old Nissan PU with my old '90 that had the 2.3L. Towed him about 10 miles with no problems.

I have a 4.0 in my '98 and in the market of buying a used fishing boat I figured I'd have to stay away from anything bigger than 16 foot. Your truck is bigger than mine but apparently the same engine. It pulled without taxing the truck too much?

My girlfriends parents were driving from Missouri to Wyoming with a Chevy 2500 loaded with stuff for our new house. They were in an accident in Kansas so we had to go pick them up and load a Uhaul trailer full and tow it back to Wyoming. My 3.0 did ok until we got to the mountains. It didn't like me very much then

Picked up about 1760lbs of concrete patio stones in the bed, no trailer :/ (stock 2010 5-speed 4.0L)

Thats about 500lbs over the specified payload, plus 2 passengers, another 500lbs. Total about 1000lbs over specified max. payload, but I didnt max-out the suspension

4.0 pulled it no problem, I was more worried about my suspension. Hopefully there will be no long-term damage !

I have hauled a bed full of sod rolls about 20 miles with my 1990 Ranger. It did alright with just a 2.3L in it. It did a lot better then I thought it would.

I used my '96 ranger with a 3.0L to move when I lived in WI. Pulled a 24ft enclosed trailer about 30 miles. It was probably close to 5,000 pound once it was loaded up.

Most I have ever hauled/towed was 14 sq. of shingles in the back of a two place horse trailer and a 2.5 motor and trans in the back of the truck. Trailer weighed 2k shingles weighed over 3k and the motor/trans I would think at least 800. So I had over 5k lbs pulling/hauling. Truck was sitting on the axle blocks and it was 35 on the highway for 40 miles!

Next heaviest thing was a 16ft car trailer with plow rig on the the back of it. So again, about 4k lbs or so

No pics of horse trailer, that was years ago before I was even online! lol

This was in my 97. 4.0 5sp and 3.73 gear

----------

it seemed like alot but the ranger had no problems at all and i led the whole way with others who had trailers and boats and etc with bigger trucks

You guys do not have the same engine. You have a pushrod, OHV 4.0. 2001 they changed over to a SOHC 4.0 that added just over 50hp and TQ to the old 4.0 ratings

I have pulled a 17 foot bass tracker that was loaded down with building supplys and a yamaha banshee in the bed of my truck with a big roll of electrical wire under it. I had Air shocks on the back of it and it did good i pulled that boat and every thing else over 500 miles only stopping for gas. I also have the 3.0 motor..
