Yesterday I bought a 98 with 4 cyl and a 5 speed manual. I would like to help it a little and I need to know what are common issues with this one. I'm planning to go with usual oil, filter, spark plugs, fuel and air filter, what else is prone to break? I tried to search a little, didn't find anything.

Check the trans for leaks, and change that oil too.

Miles on it? Has the timing belt been changed? The 2.5 is a non-interference engine so if you want you can wait till it goes THEN change it. It is pretty simple on that engine.

I had a '98 2.5l 5spd get to 263,000 on the original clutch. Outside of normal wear stuff I only ever had to replace the alternator.

It has 200 000+ miles on it. So there not much to do. Plus it's not a daily driver so I could wait for it to break.
