As long as you have insurance, it really isn't counted against you on your record. Say car B in my scenario didn't have insurance, they get cited for the whole wreck and have to pay. I know this because I was car A once. I only had liability so I didn't get a penny but it didn't hurt my record so I fixed my $500 Escort myself.

Getting the ranger checked out by my insurance body shop on monday see what they say...

I just wana be able to tow my trailer safely. And gonna push other insurance to pay for a new tow hitch and lock at least. I dont know if it is a california thing but people always want to tailgate everyone. This stinks.

Anyone know the torque specs of the nuts for the OEM receiver on my 2010 2.3 reg cab xl towing package.


My guess is that it is between 90lbs to 120lbs of torque for the nuts...

If no answer ill go 100lbs on my trusty AC DELCO TORQUE ADAPTER.

Body shop did an estimate for bumper adjustment and replacement of the the tow hitch. He said ill probably get a check in the mail.

Just torque the bolts tight.

Tighten them normal with a 1/2 inch drive. Make sure you use lock nuts or at least lock washers. I prefer ny-lock nuts.

Recievers/bumper bolts aren't critical for a specific torque. I use a half inch gun and run em down till it stops. Leave the torque wrench for lug nuts and engine parts.

Just heard from the shop today, yes the frame was tweaked. I'd make sure yours gets checked, to be safe.
