Default Auto Class or DIY Online?

I’m a beginner at auto repair. Car camping is a hobby mine with about 20,000+ miles. I don’t make much money so doing my own repairs would save me a lot of dough. The local community college offers several auto repair classes. I’m trying to decide whether to take the class or try to learn online in forums like this one. My truck is a 1994 6 cylinder 4.0L 4x4. Also, I don’t have anyplace to do the repairs other than the street and I don’t know if I’ll be able to bring my truck in the college auto shop to repair it there. Some of the problems I need to fix are leaks in the power steering system, wonky suspension system, mileage is bad (10 mpg), steering is seems loose, 4x4 doesn’t work right, stalling while idling in drive, and window washers don’t work. I want to learn how all the systems work. So, should I take the class or try and learn from you guys in this forum?

Thanks,
Mike

No I don’t have much in the way of mechanics tools. I have a friend who might have tools I can borrow.

This Monday I’m going to go see the shop instructor and find out what the chances are I can get my truck in to repair it there.
