A/C Compressor Whine?
I have a 1998 2.5 L 4 cylinder ranger.
I think its the A/C compressor clutch. I did replace the power steering pump to see if thats it but the whine is still there. It whines right when you start it up until you shut it off. CAN YOU HELP?

I'm willing to bet it is the power steering pump, even new ones are noisy on that era ford vehicle

Ford Ranger power steering pumps whine and there is a good chance that's it. Belt tensioner is a possibility.
You can replace all the parts you want but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
