Default 98 Ranger XLT Bell Housing Torque

Hey ya'll. I'm putting an engine in a 98 Ranger XLT 3.0L, and cannot for the life of me figure out how to torque the bell housing bolts once it is in the engine compartment. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Are you talking torque, as in how many foot pounds, or how to tighten them? we never torque those, just use a standard 1/2 inch ratchet and some extentions, and on some a universal joint.

I'm talking how to get to them TO torque them. Or do you not torque them? Thanks.

Sometimes it helps to place a jack under the engine, then remove the trans crossmember, letting the rear down will help.

Got it on now. Thanks for the help! Something went 'pop' and now it fits together just fine. Not sure what it was. Hopefully nothing important.

Your post is misleading, asking how to torque bolts, then stating it popped and went togather, hopefully nothing broke.

You more than likely did not have it completely aligned on the dowels(positioning guides). The pop is when it snaps into place finally... or when you broke the casting..
