About 1 week ago I purchased my first ford ranger, on the test drive the air blew cold and the truck was in exceptional condition for it's age and mileage.
I noticed the abs light was always on but figured it to be a sensor so I bought the truck.
My first order of business was repairing the abs, got real lucky with that as the first thing I checked was the fuse, and it was missing, I replaced the fuse and the light went out and has stayed out and the antilock brakes appear to be functioning properly.
Next I attempted to turn the AC down from max to normal ac and got nothing but hot air,even turning temps all the way down did nothing. So I searched the forums here and got pointed at the blend door actuator. I watched a couple of utubes on the subject and was expecting it to be difficult.
After emptying the glovebox I pulled in the catch tabs and dropped the glovebox down on it's hinge, the first thing I saw was the connector that should have been plugged into the actuator just hanging there unused, when I looked to see where it should be plugged in I found nothing,
the actuator was missing, Long story short I bought a new actuator and installed it without removing anything else. The screw toward the front of the truck is a real bear to get in but once started tightened down just fine. Tested the climate controls and everything is working as it should, I am really happy with this truck and have several other projects lined up and I will definitely use the forums
