I got spindles for a 00'- really wanted to get away from having to alter/replace too much stuff. Because it's true to the year, I'm really hoping the only thing I'll have to do is grind down that control arm. Just ordered new ones so it'll be nice to have the old ones to kinda practice on. Newbie here.

Got the spindles this morning- and they came with shackles? The blocks are arriving tomorrow... seems to be a mistake on the part of the company. I'll send one of the rear lift options back but since I have both on hand, I get to kind of choose- blocks or shackles?

Contributing factors:

I'm new to all this so I'd lean towards the simpler install

I already ordered shocks that are 2" higher to accommodate the lift of the blocks, and don't know if I went shackle if I could use that size or if I'd have to go back to stock size shocks.

I don't do serious off roading- just exploring backroads to find trailheads to run

Thoughts??

In my opinion the simpler install would be shackles. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you need longer bolts for the lift blocks...again, not sure. The spindles are literally 4 bolts, two for each shackle. I did mine but with 2" lowering shackles, took me maybe 2 hours. Most of that time was searching for tools.

Yes, with the blocks you would need longer U-bolts.

Both are simple methods. As long as you stay below 4" (only minimal trouble over that) in blocks you will mitigate away from axle wrap concerns. With the shackles, a longer shackle will lift a vehicle by half of the extra length. The drawback on shackles is they will flatten the springs out over time.

Kinda damned if you do and if you don't somewhat. but both are effective means of manipulating a stock suspension on the cheap.. but with cheap comes the drawbacks I mentioned.

The blocks came with ubolts and everything I'd need, so acquiring that stuff is a non-issue. Sounds like

Good lord almighty- today I hoped to get done with both front suspensions. Got one done, with an asterisk. The ball joint press I rented was funky and maybe missing parts- me and two of my friends could not for the life of us press in a new ball joint. We ended up damaging the first one we tried, and on the second one even now trying to tighten the castle nut the bolt just spins. Gonna have a shop fix that, and do the drivers side ball joint since I went through both. Spend HOURS on that mess. Tomorrow will be drivers side front day- the rear will have to wait until Sunday.

Carquest advance auto 23 piece loaner tool 243 dollar deposit. 5 minute job to press old and push in a new oem ball joint with a little grease in the hole and threads of presss. THIS IS THE PRESS U NEED. IT HAS THE SHORT CUPS TO ALLOW IT TO GO THROUGH

Do not take out bj till you know for sure u can press it back in LOL.

I 1ST rented the one from oreilleys and returned it didnt even attempt to press it out....

Shoulda woulda coulda. I'd never done a ball joint before so I didn't know by looking at the press that it wasnt what I needed. Live and learn!
