Default Brake problem

I have a 93 2.3L Ranger and I can not bleed the rear brakes. Zero fluid comes out of either side using a MityVac. I went to the proportioning valve and disconnected the rear line and pumped the brakes and nothing came out of the valve. I am assuming that it has locked up. I gently hit the side of the valve with a hammer and then attempted to pump the brakes. This time a small amount of fluid would come out of the valve. Is there a way to reset this? Is it bad? Is there something else I should be doing? Cant find a new one for under 400.00. That's pricey considering the car is worth probably 1,000. Thanks

There is no proportioning valve on you truck, its integral with the master cylinder. Are you sure your not talking about the ABS valve? If so just remove it, toss it in the dumpster and bypass it by connecting the lines directly.

OEM Ford Ranger Brake Proportioning Valve E9TZ-2B373-B. This is what I have but it might be semantics ABS valve vs Proportioning valve. I am more than happy to bypass it if it is safe. Do I run a new line from the master back or just a short piece at the ABS valve to the rear line to bypass it?

How many lines come out of your M/C? If its only 3, there is no ABS. You should have a right frt caliper, a left frt caliper with a junction and the rear lines run back from it.

Does it look like this?

Yes it fits 89-97. Your video link isn't responding.

Hello Jimmyc,
I know its been a while since you posted this. I am curious to know if you were able to reset your proportioning valve, or if you decided to bypass it. I have the same problem on my 1993 Ranger. I am not sure how to troubleshoot the unit. I bought a new PV, but busted it open. I did not know how to set it up correctly. I pushed the oil thru and it cracked the aluminum case. Any information is appreciated. Is there a special diagnostic tool that bleeds it?
