Default 2010 Ranger RWD....brake rotor front

Can someone tell me if the front brake rotors are with hub? All in one piece or is the rotor able to be removed seperately leaving the hub and wheel bearings in place? Dave

A much larger job than anticipated! Thanks for the quick reply. Most of the youtube videos I could find were showing rotor seperate from the hub. Possibly the 4WD are that way. Interesting that Ford would make this such a large job? Even when looking on Amazon.ca I am finding that the kits shown are rotors without hubs. Dave

4wd rotors are "floating" and for years on even cars they were a hub and rotor assembly.(my thunderbird is that way)it wasn't just ford. you could probably separate the hub from the rotor if you have a press to press out the lug stubs.

Well, such is my predicament. I purchased the truck new in 2010 and it has been a joy to own and drive. Four cylinder and five speed manual. Thanks for the comments. Dave

On a 2010 2.3 stick the front rotors are also the hub.

I personally love the one peice design. For one the rotors really dont cost any more than regular rotors and they usually come with new inner bearing races installed. Plus new wheel bearings for the one peice rotor and hub are like 30-40 bucks for all 4 vs 100+ a peice for a sealed 4x4 hub assembly. The bearings are also serviceable and can be regreased unlike the sealed hubs. You also obviously get brand new wheel studs. I see zero downside to this design. And its been a very common design on many cars and trucks for decades.

Add the fact of slightly better heat dissipation due to more cooling surface area for both brakes and bearings..

ummm.. me personally, Stock should be adequate considering your towing/payload capacity is 1540lbs/4800lbs with either a 3.73/4.10 rear end.

I cant re enforce the thought of just better pads and SS lines enough. Hawk, EBC.. whichever brand tickles your fancy and pocketbook. Since your brakes and tires are the first two points of contact that are meant to prohibit an accident, be responsible for other people like Significant other, best friend, or a child... skimping in either quality arena is a NO-Go in my book.
