AC compressor thump? EDIT Fixed
2011 Reg Cab XL 2.3 5speed
I searched this forum and it seems that this might not be an issue. I wanted to ask simply because the sound it relatively new. I just replaced my air filter and wiggled the hoses a bit to get it out. Hoping it is not related to the radiator hoses as everything looks fine.
So when the AC is on, I can hear the pulley system clicking on and off. That doesnt seem to be too loud. However there is now a very low pitched "thud" when it clicks on and off. Sometimes it happens frequently sometimes not, but is happening the entire time the AC is turned on. I live in south Florida and drive with the AC on 24/7 and this is a new sound to me. Should I be worried? Still blowing cold air no problem, drives like normal. Should I try and add some freon and see if that helps or does anyone know if I should do something, or leave it be?
EDIT: Today at rest with the car on I was turning the wheel slightly left then right and noticed the same sound is starting to happen when I do this. Left - thud, Right - thud, AC on - double thud at compressor startup. Any ideas? Air in the fluid lines?
EDIT 2: Sorry guys, fixed the problem. The Intake housing wasnt clamped down properly. I didnt push the tab on the far left in and was hearing the intake pull more air when AC and powersteering were used.
