Default Water Pump

I have a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge automatic w 2 wheel drive and the 3.0 V6 gas engine and "U"Vin. 138,448 miles.

Can't do maintenance where I live and getting too damn old anyway. Took truck to garage to have cooling system drained, flushed and new thermostat installed and filled with new antifreeze. Work was done and looked OK.

Two days later my water pump started leaking. I replaced this water pump in 2013 or around 45,000 miles ago.

My question: Is it possible to poke something up through the weep hole in the water pump and damage the seal?

It just seemed like a big coincidence to me but maybe 45,000 miles on a rebuilt water pump is standard. Comments and opinions appreciated.

Highly unlikely it was damaged with a coolant system flush and fill. Just a coincidence is my bet. Never had luck with rebuilt pumps and alts. Costs a heck of a lot more to go OEM, however they last a whole lot longer.

Basically discount auto parts stores like advance, autozone, etc don't rebuild alternators, water pumps, calipers, and others. They take in the cores, take them apart, clean up and glass bead the cases, fix the bare minimum to get it to work again, and sell it. By the bare minimum, I mean absolutely no extra parts. Brushes and bearings are reused if possible. I try to buy new from them if they have it but that still isn't the highest quality either.

Thanks for the comments. I am probably to suspicious but quality auto service is getting harder to find in my opinion. I haven't changed a water pump in 40 years at least and I couldn't remember just how the shaft seal worked on one.
Anyway, I got it changed and the whole system pressure tested and the replacement pump has a life-time garuntee whatever that means. Nice to be back on the road. It is running like a new top.
Have a great day everyone
