Default Plugged rear diff vent causing rear seal leak?

So, I have a 2000 3.0....last year changed out both rear bearings/seals with repair bearing that have built in seals and changed rear pinion seal. Well, now the passenger rear seal is leaking into the rear drum/brake shoes and it looks as if the rear pinion seal is leaking again too. Could the rear axle vent be clogged causing this, and if so, would clearing it fix the leak, or are the seals shot now??

You definitely want the axle vent working so go ahead and clean/replace that. The seals might straighten up afterwards.

So update, the axle vent was plugged up totally, when I unscrewed it the pressure was released. So now I have pulled the axle and of course the repair bearing that was put in is stuck in there really good. I tried to torch the outer part and use the slide hammer with no success. Is cutting my next option? If so, whats the best tool for the job??

Just stick a screwdriver in it and pry it out

I can't get a screwdriver in between, it's repair bearing and that casing must be hardened steel....it's a beast!

There isn't much of a lip for the slide hammer bearing puller to grab onto.

Take a Dremel or a metal file of some kind and try to cut nearly all the way through it and then try to pry it out with a hammer and flat screwdriver?

Hopefully you didn't do too much damage to the housing but at least you got it out
