Default 1997 Ranger weird ticking above 60mph

I've been searching everywhere online seeing if anyone else has had a similar problem but no luck so far. But the last 6 months or so I have had a ticking/thunking noise above 60mph when I'm off the throttle, sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. It sounds to me like its in front of me in the engine bay or possibly below me near there. I've crawled under the truck and checked everything I could. But no luck... Has anyone seen anything like this?

Rock, bolt, or screw in a tire... Does the noise change in pitch/timing when you speed up to 60 or slow down?

No it is most definitely not a rock, screw, or anything in a tire. Like I said its only at about 60mph randomly and its a clear tick from something at that speed and vibration. It sounds like its something on the firewall

1997 Ranger - I don't know where your ticking problem is coming from, but congrats on keeping it running for 21 years. How many miles do you have on it?

Come on now... my 93' is about to knock on 350k with original trans/engine and shy of a slow dropping brake pedal (new MC came in yesterday) and a now poor seal around the TB side of the intake charge pipe that gives a random check engine light on deceleration.. runs like a top.

Lots of 3rd gens on the roads still.. lol

I don't see many 3rd gens in my town, but kudos to you on 350K.
