Default Tow behind rv

First time on forum, computer challenged. I am thinking about purchasing a used Ranger 4x4 (automatic) to tow behind my RV for daily running. What do I need to do so that I don't tear up the transmission? I will be flat towing the truck, not using a trailer.

Thanks

the truck would need to be in neutral for towing, which is why most flat tow vehicles are manuals

I would think that putting it in neutral would be ok. Not 100% sure.

Manual transfer case or electronic?

unless it's pretty pre 94 if it's an auto it'll have an electronic transfer case

It is advisable to disconnect the rear driveshaft and as for the front, I would think the shaft that is linking the front axle to the transfer case should be disconnected.
It's a PIA.

Have not purchased a Ranger yet, still trying to find out more info on towing. Thinking about 2009 - 2011.
I was looking at iRV2 site and they said a 2010 4x4, auto would require a NKT plug (not really sure what that is, still searching), it will plug into a small wire harness under dashboard next to steering column, then a ford dealership would need to re-flash the truck. I have tried to reach the person who did it with his truck for flat towing, no luck yet.
