Default Wheel size advice

Guys
I have just bought a brand new Ford ranger 3.2 Double Cab WideTrack. Looking at the Ford website it comes with 18" wheels which I want to change. My local tire shop recommends 16 inch wheels with 265/75 R 16 tires saying this is what most people do when they change there wheels............does that sound about right??

despite what the website says, be best to read off your new trucks actual tire and wheel size to be sure that is exactly what you have..

Just to put it into your thoughts. If you have a 18" wheel there is a remote possibility that 16" wheels or some fitments of those 16" wheels may not clear rotors or brake calipers at the very least. So it is important to verify what you are working with when it comes to tolerances or clearances.

That being said, if a 16" or 17" wheel is a consideration, the overall diameter of the existing tire/wheel combo vs new thoughts should be maintained. Depending on who you're dealing with and the relationship or business dealings you have had with them will prove whether they are selling you what you need and want vs whats popular or trending just to get a box(s) out the door.

What is the tire size that is on the vehicle right now?
