Hi, looking for advice on purchasing a vehicle over the internet. Not my first choice but I want something rust free which I’m not going to find here in Wisconsin. At least for a year 2000 or so. Anybody ever buy or sell that way? Appreciate any input or advice

I bought my wife’s explorer and I didn’t even see a picture of it. Was 7 hours away.

Thing is it was used but only 2 years old with 13k miles. I had them send me an affidavit saying there were no aesthetic issues and drivability issues (since I was driving it back).

It still had the factory warranty so really just the aesthetics had to be checked.

Personally I wouldn’t do it for a vehicle that was outside of warranty.

I know and I’m looking at ones that are 15 years or older. I just can’t stand the rust but I don’t have the time or money to spend a week or so hunting for one in a salt free climate. Thanks for the reply!

Depending on where it was.. I know for a fact there's a few trustworthy and competent people in or near the areas you may be looking that I think if were offered at least a few bucks for their gas would consider being a great fellow Ranger owner and at least being able to check out a truck for you and send you any pics, hopefully there well versed in taking good pics and not only show you what you need to see if the OWNER was apathetic to doing so willingly; but show proof that they did in fact assist your due diligence.

I think anyone withing 40mins to an hr, and having some time would or should be able to do right by you. Then again these days.. I may be showing my age or era in which I grew up. Today you can barely get people to drive across the street for free shit let alone walk to it. lol

Thanks James. I’m doing just that. I found a fellow that that moved from here to Texas and he brings rust free truck parts back up here to sell. It’s costed a couple of dollars to have him look at a a couple but it’s worth it he’s been very honest and well versed in the field.

I purchased my 2002 ford ranger fx4 on ebay 10 years ago. I flew to florida from New mexico to pick it up. I have aslo purchased several ither vehicles on line. some I had shipped to me. Also, bought a volkswagon camper in California while living in florida. Just be careful. sometimes buying from a dealer is safer.

Generally the hassles of a dealership are worth value because they have accountability and reputation to uphold between customers and the State/County they operate in..
