Default Serpentine Question

My 97 Ranger 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual power steering pump started leaking a couple years ago and I've been living with manual steering since. I think it locked up the other day. The belt started screeching loudly (like a frozen pulley) but stopped by the time I pulled over to check it out. Did this twice. I assume it is the steering pump that locked up. Question is: Can I just get a belt for a 4 cylinder w/o power steering and bypass the pump? I know best thing is replace pump and belt but weather right now does not make that it possible.

Thanks

Default Re: Serpentine Question

You'll want to find a belt for a non a.c. 4 cylinder.
