Default Agreed upon insurance value

Well, I’ve been off the site for a while working, and working on my ’02 Ranger 4cyl./5spd restoration which was coming along amazingly until the morning of Jan 8th when it was totally destroyed by two semis during a ice storm!

Thankfully, I was not in the truck when it got annihilated. I was up against the guardrail looking at what was some minor damage after being hit by a hit and run when a semi slammed into it. The wind displacement from the semi knocked me off my feet and sent me tumbling down the ravine. As I was climbing back up to the guardrail another semi finished it off. Had I been in it, I would not be here today.

Now, I have to deal with a insurance appraiser who, though he is only doing his job, is only offering me $2200.00. I’ve put $14,000.00 in repairs, upgrades, and modifications over the past 9 years of ownership. So, if you are doing a full restoration of your Ranger as I was, be sure to place an agreed upon value on it with your insurance agent. Needless to say, I am sick and heartbroken over the whole ordeal.

But, now for the good news! I unexpectedly came across a local low mileage replacement. I struck a good deal and am now the proud owner of a fully equipped 2011 Vista Blue 2 door Super Cab 4.0/5spd XLT with only 52,000 miles. I will be searching and posting to the forums for answers to questions as I begin to familiarize myself with my new Ranger.

be sure to place an agreed upon value on it with your insurance agent.

Glad it ended up alright for you in the end l.

One thing to verify if anyone is looking at agreed value policy are potential restrictions that come with it. Many have mileage and or usage restrictions attached and can be pretty brutal.
