What's this Ranger worth?
I'm looking at a 2004 Ranger Edge Stepside extended cab 4 dr pickup and am curious as to what you all think it might be worth.
PROS:
1. One Family-owned, bought new
2. 64000 miles
3. 3.0 V6 Automatic
4. Doesnt look like it has every had any major bodywork done to it and has
not had any major panels replaced.
5. Stepside
6. 4 door
7. Edge model
8. 2WD
CONS:
1. Rear step bumper hit so hard that the Bumper and all the Mount Brackets need replacing (No frame damage or major body damage from the impact)
2. Both sides of the truck have dent and scrape damage requiring repair only (not necessary to replace any panels) and then both sides repainted (red).
Front Bumper Cover needs minor repair and repainting too, from scrapes on the front sides.
In my experience, to replace the Rear Bumper with an aftermarket, repair all the side body damage and then repaint everything that's repaired looks to be about $4000-$4500 worth of Texas bodywork. (I'm a retired Bodyshop Manager).
3. Tires LOOK good with plenty of tread BUT are all dry-rotted.
4. Spare Tire Missing.
5. Interior in average condition. No major damage, just normal for a 14 year old truck.
What do you guys think this Truck is worth, based on it's current condition? Thanks for your opinions!

Re: What's this Ranger worth?
I'm 90% sure there isn't an aftermarket stepside bumper, so that could get tricky

Already found one, $200 for one that needs to be painted Body Color or a Chrome one for $230. Both come with all the mounting brackets..

Re: What's this Ranger worth?
4.0 or 3.0 v6
2 or 4wd
Worth ends up being in the eye of the beholder. Sounds like you already own it

Re: What's this Ranger worth?
The 64,000 miles is the biggest redeemable quality of this truck.
Needs tires to be safe
Without looking at between 1400 and 1800.
Same truck 4wd with a 4.0 would be 3500
My opinion only.

where'd you find it? I may have overlooked it in my search because 200 seemed steep at the time

Re: What's this Ranger worth?
Hey Man,
At that age and Mileage you would be doing yourself a
huge disservice by not checking out the front end/ball joints.
I got the same truck (2001 XLT). At about 60K he was eating
tires. Strict rotation allowed me to get to 95K before I did the
ball joints. With the help of my neighbor it was cheap, easy
and quick for me. Could cost a bundle if you can't DIY.
Either way if the truck needs it a real solid reason for
them drop the price Alot! Gud Luk

With 64,000 miles the interior should be excellent. And what's with all the exterior damages? Sure the odometer hasn't been rolled back? The miles look good on paper, but if it's been sitting unused frequently, seals and gaskets may have dried up and shrunk. As soon as you start driving it, you'll be chasing leaks from the engine, transmission, power steering, etc. I'd rather buy a 150,000 mile example with an excellent body since paint and bodywork will be expensive.

As I mentioned in the first post, this is a one-family owned truck since new. The Driver was an older woman who obviously didnt know how to back up..that's where all the body damage came from. Scraping stuff badly enough to dent the panels, not bad enough to require panel replacement, only repair. BUT both sides and the Front and Rear Bumpers will need repainting.
Keep in mind that this is a Texas truck and as such there is no rust or rot anywhere on it. The interior is not all torn up, just old and stinky.
And again, what would YOU pay for it?

IF it was in great condition without damages, that truck would bring $6,000-$7,000 around here. In it's present condition assuming no mechanical problems, worth somewhere in the $3K's.

Re: What's this Ranger worth?
Beware of that eBay bumper. It says "Step Bumper". ALL the Rangers have a STEP BUMPER. You need to ensure this bumper is for a flareside box. You can't tell the difference in a picture because the only difference is the width of the bumper.
