Default V8 swapped ranger smashed!

Tuesday night I was heading to meet a guy from the 'letgo' app to buy a couple of CB radio antennas and a minivan turned left directly in front of me. I had nowhere to go but right into her. It totaled my truck, the frame is bent and it pushed me back so hard the block cracked and separated from the engine. I feel like I'm going to have a hard time getting replacement value for it so if anyone knows of online ads for selling a 96-01 explorer swapped ranger please post them up here. Mine was 99 2wd auto. I saw the one in classifieds here on ebay. Looking for stuff like that. Thanks! I'll post up some pics next.

Thank you. I'll be okay. I'm pretty sore and wife was with me she got hurt but not fatal so I'm thankful. and I meant to say engine block cracked and separated from transmission.

That has major suck written all over it, the entire situation. Glad you and your wife crawled away without too much damage.

Rangers can be replaced, human body parts usually can't.

I am glad you are OK, I wonder when you purchased the truck or did the swap to the V8 did you call your insurance company and inform them of the V8 installation?

Did they agree to cover the truck for more because of the engine transplant?

I am guessing your insurance company never knew about the V8 install, which means in my head that the insurance company may have a way out of covering the claim or only covering stock equipment.

You pretty much have no proof the accident caused the engine block to brake this looks to me that the bolts were not tightened properly some of them backed out then the impact may have caused the damage to the block.

My point is I would be more concerned about keeping my mouth shut about the swap and just say thank you for whatever you get if anything.

Good luck no matter what happens.

Love the "Ex ranger xlt" badge.

Are you going to build another?

This is one of the reasons I've always been hesitant to put a decent amount of money into customizing/upgrading a vehicle- no matter how good a driver you are, it only takes one screw-up to total it and chances are insurance will give you nothing for it.

Also just brought a question to mind - does anyone think the extra size/weight of the V8 might reduce safety in a crash?

thx for the well wishes guys. I'm not sure about future plan builds but wasn't done with this one so maybe I can do another one. My insurance carrier knew about the swap and we had discussed full coverage for "stated value" but because it wasn't finished I only have liability coverage right now. That shouldn't matter because the other driver is 100% at fault so her insurance and my uninsured/underinsured should provide replacement value. I hope I just need to show the value of swapped ranger vs a regular ranger.

As long as the seat belts were worn properly and the air bag deployed without throwing metal pieces, the Rangers are quite safe.

Yeah, not really.

If you are a person of much stature at all it's quite a compact area
