Default Catback question

I've gone through a few mufflers being welded in so I don't know what is stock. The last setup I had, there was maybe 2 or 3 feet between the cat and the muffler. I just bought this:
https://www.amazon.com/Gibson-19714-.../dp/B000CCFHTA

Diagram:

I noticed the piece that goes between the cat and muffler is only about a foot. This says it fits but the real question is, will it? If so, why the difference?

It looks like it would fit, it has a hangar behind the muffler instead of on the muffler like stock.

It is not a stock exhaust system but does look like it would fit in the space allotted. I've worked on exhaust on 4 rangers this summer very familiar with the underside. Only one so far was not rotted where those rear hangars connect to the muffler maybe getting them away from the heat is a good idea.

Do I need to add anything so the muffler mounts stop rusting and letting the muffler fall off?

Rinse it off more often at the quarter wash and stop driving it through slush puddles of salt laden water in winter... move to the desert like some of us? lol OR pony up for a real Stainless Steel exhaust?

They've been SS exhausts.

The muffler isn't 17 years old. My car's muffler doesn't fall off every 2 or 3 years.

Replace the entire exhaust including the hangers with a stock exhaust. Mission accomplished. No custom exhaust will make a 4 cylinder sound anything but ricey.

If you're purchasing legit SS exhaust systems, NO company of VALUE relying on its name and reputation is using just a SS can, or SS B-pipes/Over axle pipes & can, and using mild steel hangars.

Not that it can't be done, You need to use 309L electrode because of the dissimilar metals but for the COGS you may as well simplify materials and work by just using a SS hangar on the products.

In fact, the stock exhaust would last longer by your description of time lapse. And if it was made out of just one, JUST ONE more grade up of Stainless steel itself, it would out last that truck or any vehicle for that matter if forever was the goal.

Father worked in the Steel industry, specifically SS divisions for 2 decades alone back in Detroit; another salt ladened snow state.. Surprisingly picked up a few things from him.

When catback is mentioned on this forum, 100% of the time sound is a priority.

Except when it's not? The whole point of the thread was repairing and preventing a rust issue.

I could care less what the catback sounds like. I need a catback because I need one, not because I want it to sound different. Dvrich go play on some F150 forums.

You know you have no mechanical ability whatsoever so just take the truck to a shop and have them replace the exhaust instead of wasting everyone's time asking what parts to buy. I have read all of your posts and you are dumber than a rock. I don't know what kind of work you do but your company does get a tax credit for hiring mentally challenged people.

I already have the box in my living room. It's not that hard. That's what these forums are for. You've got nothing better to do than post on a forum for a vehicle that you don't even own? I guess you're still mad your girl Hillary lost. Get over it
