This is pretty embarrassing, but bare with me. I went through an automated car wash, and due to the record temperatures up here I left my AC on while going threw. I ended up sucking water into the blower motor and everywhere else in the AC system. Then I had to get home and grab a few rags and dry up the puddle of suds and water on my car mats that leaked down the passenger firewall. When I turn the AC on now it still "gurgles" like there is still water left in there, I hope it drys up and doesn't make anything squeak. On the bright side my interior smells like cherry suds now.

Has this ever happened to you guys. Did you pull the blower motor out and dry it up with some rags, or just let it air dry.

Hi, I would start by looking under the hood for obvious reasons Soap and water from a car wash is getting into your vehicle in the first place.

Do you still have a gasket along the firewall that helps seal the hood?

Is the Rubber air cooling tube from the HVAC blower housing to blower motor connected properly?

Is the drain in the evaporator housing clogged with leaves and other debris?

I would remove the blower motor and make sure it is dry before use,

I would remove the resistor assembly and make sure it is dry before using it.

Use a mirror and flashlight or phone to inspect the opening for the bower motor check for leaves and or debris and standing water and soap in the box clean it out as needed.

You should be able to see some of the evaporator core, make sure everything you can get to without hurting the evaporator is clean as you can get it.

Then remove the drain and make sure it is clear of leafs and debris.

Once you clear the jam at the drain the water level should drop considerably unless you have a lot of debris on the heater and evaporator cores.

You may have to replace the fan motor and resistor either now or down the road my guess is they will work once it dries off good enough.

Do you know where that drain is located, I looked at the blower motor through the glove box and it look dry and clean. I looked at the evaporator housing it looked clean.

if you pour a little water at the evaporator with the blower motor off, the water should pour out easily through the drain making it easier to spot.

If it is clogged up it will be harder to spot, your looking for a 1/2 inch diameter or so plastic pipe sticking out of the firewall or evaporator housing 2-3 inches.

I am not 100 percent sure where it is on the Ranger.

Most of the drains will have a rubber elbow on it with a lightweight built in check valve that keeps critters and hot air out of the box.

You likely have the drain of the hvac unit clogged with leaves and other stuff. Find the bottom of the box on the outside and see if you can get a coat hanger up there to dislodge the blockage. You'd probably end up with water on the floor just from the a/c condensation alone but the water from the car wash sped it up.

The drain outlet is between the evaporator housing and engine toward the bottom of the fire wall. You will see a small tube sticking out of the firewall.

Also need to check the cowl drains in front of the windshield.

Even money this is the problem since that is the only place soapy water from a car wash can get into the A/C system.
