Got the new/used bed almost ready to go on.
Removed the old box, and got a good look at the frame, not as bad as I thought it would be.
Last photo is how you do it when you have no help.

Looks like the frame shouldn't need too much work?

Surprisingly no. My POR15 stuff should be here tomorrow, but I've got some prep and repair before I can coat everything. I've got to rebuild the rear tank mount, I have to fab something up since the bracket I paid $70 for won't work. I've got a couple things in mind. Plus,I want to remove the bumper and hitch, and clean those up since it'll be easier to do it now. Maybe, just maybe, I'll have this knocked out early next week.

Here's a couple shots of the underside of my original bed, including one of the right step support. Pretty much gone, I'd say.

Geez, now this FU#^ing site won't let me load photos, F,,, this, I'm about gone.

Oh, it's Chrome stopping you - because it lists the site as "dangerous" right now, it blocks popups (needed for the upload) so just click the icon in the far right of the address bar and allow the pop up (or click to load it) and you'll see the upload box again.

Geez, thanks David, I'll give it a shot then.

John, did you check the condition of the filler pipe & the hoses, if they look suspect NOW would be the time to replace them. Also check the metal brake line where it bends down to meet the rubber line to the rear axle, that is where mine broke. Here is how I removed the bed off my Ranger.

Before,

After,

Odd you mention the brake lines, I had to replace those a few months ago.
Yepper, you gave me the idea to use my loader. I use that thing a lot, but somehow never thought about lifting the bed off! LOL
Yep, the fuel lines look good. I'm going through everything I can think of, I really don't want to take everything apart again in the near future.

Got the photos finally!

Was poking around with my chipping hammer knocking off scale, and discovered both shackle mounts were shot. Also found that the shackle was frozen to the mount on both sides, might ride a little better if the suspension was working correctly. Ordered mounts and shackles, nickels and dimes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Does anyone have an idea of what it was Ford used as an isolator between the non-thru bolted crossmembers of the bed, and the frame? It appeared to be some sort of thick rubberized tape. Used to prevent noise I think?

Ya, that stuff works pretty good. It works well even on the BFG KO2's, those things turn greyish brown if you don't stay on them.

Here is what I used at those spots. I had some left over butyl tape from repairing my pop-up. It shouldn't rot; it might smush down over time but probably no worse than what was used before. And yes, I needed to replace my fuel filler neck too!
