Re: Flare side box rot - What to do?? Questions
That new box looks pristine! That is except for the ground effects. Never ceases to amaze me what some people think looks good. Luckily you can get them off.
That's a strange place for that rust, most I've seen are like mine.

i think the rust up front was caused by snow and slush being trapped between the cab and the box. the truck originally belonged to my father and he ran it with a cap and there was always uno build up.
he also ran it with the plastic bedliner and i assume moisture was getting trapped underneath, between the bedliner, floor and sidewalls.

Ya, that all sounds reasonable, especially the front wall. I know mine with the tonneau does the same. Never thought of it being much to think about, now I know.
You were right about the bolts being T55, my T50 is slightly loose, so I ordered 2 T55 impact sockets. Can't wait to get the bed off, and something started.

Re: Flare side box rot - What to do?? Questions
John, the last time I was going to remove the bed off my Ranger I soaked the c clips on the frame that the bolts go into for several days leading up to the day I removed it & it made removal a lot easier especially where we live where the states use a lot of salt on the roads.

Thanks Mike, I managed to break all the bolts loose, except for one. Luckily the one above the fuel tank walked right out.
