When I sold my 07 supercab in 2014, I might have waxed it twice. I maintained it meticulously though.
I never owned a beater truck, but I would make absolutely sure it was maintained and safe to drive.........any frame rot and it would be thrown away.

So glad I dont have to deal with the frame rot crap. I really feel for people where the salt goes down. Used to live in a cold climate as a kid and man the hell cars faced with all the salt was depressing. Down south you maintain the mechanicals and keep it reasonably clean and the frame will last as long as you can find junkyard motor/trannies for the car.

I do live in the "salt belt''...That sucks for sure. But, when ever I work on my ranger, I am always amazed at how I can get the bolts to turn, can't say that for some vehicles these days.....I am always able to replace/repair what ever I need to on my ranger.. That to me makes them a vehicle you can hang on to for a very long time, not a throw away in my book.
