Holy crap! the dang nozzle (only) is $17 on Amazon!!

That can is only $10!!
I think i'll keep an eye out for something.

Fordzilla, wow! that sucks, timing is everything, i'll take a look locally, factory is fine, aftermarket is fine, just don't want attention drawing or expensive. Good to know about the 2/4 door versions.

It's 100f out there right now, and i rode 20 miles on a bike, i'm going to cool off before i go attacking the door cards and that heat pad under the bed

The tailgate access panel, is that the large black plastic liner-like piece on the inside?

Ya, they're pretty proud of that nozzle!!!!
Ah, you have a tailgate protector on there. Just take that off, and you'll find the rest of the screws under it.
GEEZ!!! 100? Man, you can have that crap, anything over 80 slows most of us down.LOL

OK, so gotta take that panel off (added to list along with everything else)

Does anyone know if you can get cigarette lighter switches? I'd like to reuse the hole for the AC cut off switch.

Meh, looks like this will be way more complicated than i expected, i'll take this search offline.

Anything else you'd recommend? tweaks, service? customisation, replacement etc.

Just upgrade shocks, brakes, tires, whenever you need to. As far as customization [mods], you're only limited by your bank account.
I will warn you, once you start, it's hard to stop.
I've got 2 modded out trucks, and just retired the second time, and on a fixed income, so, I'm trying to be happy with what I have.

I spend a lot of time cleaning and polishing, and rearranging my barn.

Has the tailgate been changed? I ask because you don't have the Ford emblem on the right lower side. I really wish I didn't have the emblem. Would have to get the holes filled and then painted. Looks so much cleaner without the emblem.

Yeah slippery slope, this truck is purely an occasional use vehicle that isn't supposed to cost too much...........

I have been wondering what happened to that, did all models have punch hole badges on the back?
I know the handle was replaced (service history) a few years ago, looking at it now, the metal at one end of the handle looks a little dented, so i suspect the previous owner had someone break into their truck top via the tailgate at some point.

You have a 2002 Ranger Edge. The vinyl badges on the lower bedside state that clearly. The Edge model is pretty much ala carte. Stripped down model that you could add various options to. BTW, the correct names are Flareside and Styleside. Step side and Fleetside are GM designations. I have owned two Edge trucks; a 2001 and my current ride, a 2003 model. They are vastly different from each other, options-wise. HTH

2001-2011 on the running boards. 2001-2005 are one style, then in 2006 they changed the styling, but they still mount the same. Just remember the difference between two door and four door.

98-00 probably will, but I can't guarantee 93-97. The years listed above only apply to factory step bars. I don't know about aftermarket step bars or dealer installed step bars.

It's definitely a 2-door looking at the rear of the cab. With the fender flares and painted bumpers it looks like an Edge but the equipment doesn't sound right. Maybe the equipment list was different in 2002. I had a 2004 Edge company truck and it had all the goodies. The Sport replaced the Edge and was equipped the same. I have a 2011 Sport with the goodies. The idea of running the VIN was a good one.
