Need some advice
Bought my 2011 XLT Ranger from a dealer in Huntsville. Bought the Premium Maintenance Agreement and the ESP Extended Warranty. Went thru my service records the other day and ACCORDING to the service records they gave me, the truck has 64,741 and the air filter was never changed. They are the only ones thatvhave ever serviced the truck. Went down and watched the open the air box up. DIRTY. Could not get them to own up that they did not change it and the Service Manager claimed other than burning more fuel , no damage to the motor. I think I have been lied to again by the dealer. What is my next move?

Re: Need some advice
Go spend $20 on a WIX air filter replace your old one with the new WIX.

Re: Need some advice
Document and call whoever actually pays the service agreement. If the dealer is billing them for a new air filter that he never installed that's fraud twice. Or just a new filter yourself . Considered the money spent for the warrenty a expensive lesson learned.

Re: Need some advice
Worried about damage to the engine. They changed the air filter after I raised hell. If the Service Manager's line was no way the engine was damaged, then why put an air filter in at all?

Need some advice
Only thing a dirty air filter will hurt on an EFI engine is acceleration/power.
Fuel economy won't even suffer because the computer will sense less air flow and cut back the injector pulse.
Last time I changed my filter was at 150k miles and it now has 240k. I usually push preventative maintenance to the limit.
Just tell them they owe you two filters and be done with it.

What interval does Ford suggest changing the filter?
I check mine every 25,000 miles and replace when necessary.
Since Ford and the other manufacturers have extended the maintenance intervals, a maint agreement is a money maker for Ford.

Re: Need some advice
Air filters all depend on your driving.
I clean mine, about once a month during summer. Winter I go 6 months lol.

If the manual says 30,000 miles and they didn't replace the filter, I would be mad too.

Re: Need some advice
unless there is damage to the filter, allowing things to actually bypass it, then no, you probably haven't damaged anything.
Do you track your fuel economy? if not, you probably should start. its a quick way to figure out if something is going on with the engine, that isn't normally checked by an engine sensor. If you see an unexpected drop in fuel economy, then its time to start looking at stuff.

Re: Need some advice
Take a look inside the snorkel, if it's clean, the service manager is right. But still, the filter should have been changed earlier.

Re: Need some advice
Late update, or better than a stick in the eye. Just recently I heard from the Service Manager at the aforementioned dealership in Huntsville. He told me that his research show two RO's, repair order he said, where the filter was changed at 14,000 miles in Oct 12, I bought it in March. The other one he said was in May of 2014 and the clock was showing 32,000 miles. No record provided to me other than the phone call and when they changed it the other day it was way more than the 30,000 interval my manual shows. Oh well, better than a stick in the eye.
