Buying 2006 Sport with 131k miles

Hi Everyone,

I am a newbie here. I have owned 3 rangers and loved them, but had to switch to a full-size for additional towing capacity a few years ago.

I am looking for a ranger for my son and found a really clean 2007 sport supercab 3.0 with 131k miles. The price seems reasonable for my area and Autocheck history checks out fine. Is there anything in particular I should be wary about with this truck?

If it is a 2006 as the title says, make sure both airbag recalls have been done (drivers and passengers)

If it is a 2007, make sure the airbag recall has been done (passengers only)

It is a good sign if the PO kept up on maitnence and recalls, and. Those Takatas are nasty beasts anyways.

As for the 3.0, ask if the Camshaft Syncho has been replaced and listen for squealing. It should be replaced around every 100k miles. Be careful though, if you ask if its been replaced they may say yes just to get a sale (has happened to me) so use your ears and ask for proof.

Well I missed out on the 2dr Supercab with 131k miles, but bought a 2wd sport 4dr supercab with 140k miles for $5200. It is very clean and my son loves it. Off to Discount Tire tomorrow for a set of 31/10.5/15 Grabber AT2s. I will post some pics with the new tires.
