Did the garage people hook up anything to see if there were any pending trouble codes? Do you have an automatic or manual trans? How many miles? Has it had regular maintenance? Can you check your oil pressure by any means other than the dash gauge? Carbon build up along with the engine running lean due to a vac leak can produce a good pinging condition, an engine bearing knock usually has a lower tone than a ping and bearing knock is usually constant and can vary in volume with the rpms. Your problem to me sounds more like a ping problem.
