If the frame is cracked you just can't weld it and call it a day. It would at least need pulled. Chances are if it cracked the frame, it's pushed way over, possible damage to the cab. That's more what I was referring to.

Yeah I'm sure Cali inspections are worse than the rest as far as salvage title. Resale value loss wouldn't be a big deal if he decided to keep it until the wheels fell off

Anywhere from 8 -10 thousand assuming the vehicle is as clean as it looks. Rangers are rare and high dollar in North Alabama.

Go shopping, find comparable cars at dealers, insist that you get enough to replace it. That means getting some out the door quotes in writing from the dealers. Give those to the insurance company. Tell them if they argue on it then your lawyer is happy to add a 0 to the price.

Re: What do you think my Ranger was worth? Before Accident (with photos)
whats up guys.......been dealing wiith insurance all week....and we have settled on a price..........i will get $14,466 total.....roughly $13,233 for the truck and $1,233 for the tires and rims that had less than 1000 miles on ..... $14,466 IN ALL
i just about doubled my money on the truck......(originally paid $7500 for the truck)
i hate living in So Cal, because everything is expensive.......but insurance wise....it helps having inflated prices when the insurance company is pricing out your totaled ford ranger

Re: What do you think my Ranger was worth? Before Accident (with photos)
That settlement total is nonsense according to my insurance agent.
The high mileage truck retails for $8600 plus $1200 for the wheels. The ins companies always add on tax and we will assume 7%.
Your insurance company either mistakenly gave you $4000 more than the truck is worth or you are telling fish stories.
Insurance companies use a combination of local market value and national retail for their appraisals.
Lifting a truck also lowers the appraised value.

^^^ I'm sure they'll more than make up for it between what it brings at a copart auction, screwing over a little old lady when her one-owner, 38,000 mile 2002 Buick gets totaled (and she won't know how to complain) and the continuing upward spiral on insurance premiums, for which I personally fight back (and encourage others) by claiming every possible thing I can to screw THEM back for all this BS.

Ok buddy....thanks for insulting me and calling me a liar........you obviously have a shitty insurrance agent/coverage on your vehicle........ To buy a compairable vehicle in southern californa......it will cost me any where from 11,000 to 12,000....(from a dealer)...not some piece of shit on craigslist.... Add on sales tax....at 8% in So Cal......and then add on the cost for my tires...so thats .roughly 12,200 for the truck..another $1000 for taxes and refund of registration that i just paid....and another 1200 for brand new tires and rims.......for a grand total of roughly $14,400......you should prob look into changing your insurance company
And my truck isnt lifted

KBB has your truck priced at $8900 retail in clean condition.
Edmunds prices your truck at $9000 retail.
Nobody who actually looked up the value of your truck believes you.

All I know is that here anyway insurance paid out is based on replacement cost not book value. My '98
booked at something like $1400, but you couldn't find a replacement for less than $3500. Pay out had 2 comparables on and they split the difference and took out my deductible. Paid me $3300 on a truck that booked for $1400.

MOL the same here, and, $ added for verifiable reasons to justify above average condition (new paint, engine, tranny, tires, major things) and other reasonable adders (fresh tabs, etc). When a claims adjuster wants to be an unreasonable dick there are two cards to play, a) tell him to replace your vehicle with one in like condition and b) get ready to notify the state insurance commissioner (be honest with yourself RE vehicle value). Seems like anymore, the fighting over vehicle value is fairly uncommon.
