It sure looks like a huge amount of balance weight on the wheel pictures. I would demand another tire.....looks like you have over 5 ounces of lead on that wheel.

Re: New tire choice questions
I went with the toyo open country rt. It's a cross between a mt and at so you get some of the mt characteristics but with a 45,000mi warranty and it's quieter than an mt

I put my leveling kit on 2 days after buying the truck lol. Buddy had one that wouldn't fit his '15 so I got it cheap. Had I not gone with the biggest tire I could I wouldn't have had to get new wheels. I scrubbed upper arm with the stock wheels at full lock.

Re: New tire choice questions
I'm a big fan of the Cooper A/T3s. I had them on my King Ranch and now I bought a set for my ranger. They last forever it seems like. A couple years ago we had a big snow storm here and the only two drivers on the highway that weren't wrecked were me (in 2wd I might add) and a Jeep Wrangler. Didn't see another soul driving without issue. I've just had great luck with them.

Re: New tire choice questions
I've been looking for something, slightly, cheaper and good for cold weather and colder weather. Living in SoCal I would just continue with my bfg long trails but in Idaho I know I will need some meatier tires. I've been noticing a lot of people complaining about BFGs loosing their quality hence my search into General

Re: New tire choice questions
General AT2's are good. They tend to ride a bit harder, but the wear like iron, and have decent traction (not the best in class but right about on par with BFG K0's).
Coopers are good, you can't go wrong with the AT3 or STMAXX. Both incorporate silica rubber compounds (really good for improving wet weather, snow and ice traction). Have better traction and durability in all conditions than BFG AT's (though I can't speak as to the newest the K02), and cheaper when I was last shopping around. MasterCraft which is a Cooper subsidiary has an AT that's damn similar to the AT3 but cheaper and minus a few features (if they maintain the silica rubber compound I think they'd make a great budget candidate for a beefy AT on a truck heading for Idaho).

Re: New tire choice questions
I'm running a set of Mastercraft Courser AT2's (235/75/15). I've had them on for 15k or so and they're still in great shape. Granted I rotate them every oil change.
I don't know if you can get them any more though.

Seriously consider the Cooper Discoverer AT/3. Good price, great costumer service MADE IN THE USA. I ran them on my Explorer and have them on my f150 now. Im also fixing to get a set on the 08 4.0 4x4. Buy them off Amazon, usually run $115-150 per tire depending on size and load rating

Re: New tire choice questions
I believe the MasterCraft AXT (Cooper AT3 rebrand, made in the same factory here in the US) has superceded the AT2. AXT are a great tire, claimed tread life is just under the Coopers but cheaper and still come with a 50,000mi warranty. They like the Coopers are M+S rated.
I read where the MasterCraft supposedly use almost the same compound as Cooper does in its flagship models, and while slightly softer (hence Coopers having a longer projected tread life/warranty) the softer compound yields slightly better wet and cold weather traction. That's unsubstantiated, but a call to MasterCraft/Cooper should confirm if it is the case.
