New tire choice questions
Hey everyone, finally joined the forums.
My first question is any recommendations on tires. I currently live in SoCal but will end up moving to Idaho in the next few months.
I am currently looking at General Grabber AT2s'
Next, 15x7 wheels via sticker on car. 00' XLT stepside chrome trim.
Anyone know if I can fit something akin to 265/70/15 on my stock wheels?
Any recommendations and answers, greatly appreciated!

Re: New tire choice questions
I just replaced a set of grabbers with the firestone destination le 2's that were rated better this year. But I run 235/75 R15's because they just look better and I live in pa were we have a solid four seasons of weather.

Re: New tire choice questions
I have to recommend Hercules Terra trac Tries. They are an excellent tire, and often for an amazing price (if you shop it around).
http://www.herculestire.com/traction/
as far as size, I have a 98, stock suspension 31x10.5r15 on stock wheels, No issues at all. and a lot of times the tires in this size are a lot cheaper than equivalent metric sized tires, for what ever reason.

Re: New tire choice questions
I've been running Cooper Discoverer A/T3 for a couple of years now and they have been great tires.

Re: New tire choice questions
The best tires I ever had were Bridgestone dueler a/t's my first ranger was an 04 and when I traded it in for the 06(better interest rate) I had them switch the tires and wheels they were phenomenal. when I went to replace them around 09 I researched them and found there rating was #}%^. when i asked the mechanic he stated that they are always changing the rubber compounds so no two years are the same.
So now when I go to buy tires I go on tire rack and a couple other sites including consumer reports if there current and see who is getting the best ratings.
The one thing I can honestly say. And I'm old enough to say this is you get what you pay for! Buy cheap tires or expensive tires it will all wind up costing the same amount per tire over time the only difference is how often will you be paying to have them remounted every year or every five years.

Re: New tire choice questions
I was in the same situation to buy new tires and realized that asking for advice on what to get didn't really help me decide. I ended up making a list of features I wanted, like low road noise, good tread wear, and reasonable price. I didn't care about off-road or mud performance, snow handing, or aggressive tread looks. Your list will be different, I'm sure. Then I researched consumer reports and tire reviews with my "must have features" and made a decision. Couldn't be happier, although I spent more than I wanted too.
