Default Connecting rod failed

My 2011 ranger has 90,000 miles and a connecting rod failed. The warranty is of course expired, but not by that much I feel. Given the nature of this failure, is there any chance of Ford owning up to the $5k engine replacement? Thanks if anyone can share experience or advice. -Erik Iverson

If you don't have an extended warranty then no.

It probably had a 60k mile power train which you aren't even close.

5k is pretty steep for an engine swap. You can get any short block from 01+ but I'd look for anything 05 and up. And it would cost a lot less than who ever quoted you that

No. Nothing for them 'own up to'. Shit happens, sometimes it is out of warranty.

You are WAY out of factory power train coverage. Factory is 5yr/60k miles
WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST.

Open up the wallet. Ford will laugh right in your face if you ask them to foot the bill.

The dealer did not even begin to honor the Maintenance Agreement I bought, my bad, but the ESP Warranty I bought, that the dealer 50 miles away told me was good at ANY Ford dealership is good until 100,00 miles or March of 2019. So now I drive 50 miles one way to a dealer that for the first time in a long time, the mechanic comes and talks to me about the problem and what the fix was. Worth the 100 round trip to me. Harbin Ford in Scottsboro Alabama that still provides old school service.

If you are too young to remember old school service, sorry about that, but I do.If I have to explain it to you, you won't understand.

This had nothing to do with the original problem. You bought some extended warranty. The op's truck is out of warranty... I fail to see any correlation between the two.

If you want to talk "old school" then I can remind you that vehicles used to have even crappier warranties back in the day. Shit breaks, it sucks that it was out of warranty for the op. I don't think you understand that though

I remember 1 year/ 12,000 mile new car warranties back in the day.
FR might be thinking about the warranty on his Model T when they first came out.
