Default Trying to replace AC accumulator

While trying to add refrigerant in the AC of my Ranger, I noticed it was leaking rapidly and saw refrigerant leaking through rust in the accumulator. Ordered a new one and managed to get the old one off except for one connection... the hose that runs to the compressor. There's this coupler that is well nigh impossible to remove. It is outlined in the pic. Is this a permanent coupler? Will I have to replace the hose? The compressor has no apparent problems, btw.

I figured as much, that it would need a tool similar to those used to remove fuel lines.

I bought these. Cheap and I've already used it like 10 times. Fits AC and fuel lines. Make sure to youtube the way to use them.

It is done! New accumulator is on, fresh R134a added. Will check for leaks tomorrow.

No leaking, and it's great to have a working AC again, because we've had some sweltering days lately.
There was some spongy black padding around the old accumulator, and it was crumbling. I'm willing to bet that moisture built up in that padding, and it started the rust. The new accumulator has no such padding.

How did you get the coupling off? Did you buy a tool?

Yes, I got the quick disconnect tool - it took a while but it finally separated.

I just did the entire ac system on my 83 2.3l. (new condenser,Compressor, Ac lines, Accumulator, And evaporator with new orifice tube.) Had to retrofit and the quick connects were rusted stuck. I ruined my quick disconnect tool trying to get one of them out before finally deciding to just replace it all lol. GL with it. once you get it off. make sure you spray a little bit of lube on the male end that goes inside the accumulator or you will have a hell of a time getting it to snap back in. Although I only had that problem at the condenser.
