Default '99 Frame Swap

Hello,
A few qustions...
I have a 1999 extended cab xlt 2w drive. I have a bent frame. I have found a 1999 extended cab 4w drive. My truck has a 4.0 the donor vehicle had a 3.0.. front suspension is also different. First of all, can I swap my 2w drive components onto the 4w drive frame? Second, will the computer for the 3.0 work for my 4.0? If I cannot swap my front suspension onto the 4w drive frame can I still use the 4w drive frame because I do not have a transfer case?

Any tips/suggestions would be greatly welcomed and appreciated!

I would get the frame straightened instead of wasting massive time and effort saving an 18 year old Ranger.

So your wanting to put your body on the 4x4 chassis?

It's doable.....easiest way is to have a lift. Lift your body off, roll your bent chassis out, then roll the 4x4 chassis under it, and bolter down. You don't have location in your info, so just sayin that the body bolts don't always cooperate. I got lucky & mine came out piece of cake when I did it, but that's a Southern truck, Northern trucks where they use salt can be a PITA.

You won't have to worry bout 3.0 or 4.0 stuff inside the cab, but not sure other than motor & trans mounts that maybe different between chassis'. You won't have transfer case, so you can let the frontend free roll. Never done it for a V6 swap.

BTW: If your close to SE TN, I can hook ya up with a 4.0L transfer case, but don't have any drive shafts.

Start a thread and show pics of swap with progress.........GLWB!

Sorry I'm in TX so no salt to worry about. Thanks for the advice RatRanger, sadly I don't have access to a lift anymore. But that makes since so I will look into maybe renting space with a lift. If I go that route any idea how long(best case scenario) it would take to lift it off? And would it be worth trying to mount the motor and transmission before dropping the cab back down? Thanks again!!
And yes I know it's a 17 year old truck that's worth next to nothing but it has a deep value to me, it was the last thing my mother helped me get before she passed away so I really don't care about the age!

The bed should take about an hour, no idea about the rest of the truck though.

Seeing pictures of bare rangers (frame only) I would bet it would be a lot easier to mount the engine and tranny first, but that is me thinking aloud.

Holy crap Kealel, I can remove the bed myself (58 y/o) in 30 mins, as I have had to do that before! Couple pieces of landscapin timbers and rollin it over the tires VERY CAREFULLY, then layin down some blankets, and standin it up on end.

Yes Grimm, definitely easier to mount drivetrain BEFORE puttin cab back on, that's what I did also.

We lifted the cab off, left the bed in place in 45 mins to an hr, that's disconnectin cooling system, ac, brake master cylinder, steerin shaft, and all electrical connector & layin them across motor as we lifted cab off.
