Yea mine is missing that lever. Manual shows that same #1 position but it's not really there. It's ether a misprint/screwup (for the '11's) or something is wrong with my switch.

Ok so I have the 2011 manual now...

So it says you should have that...

Have you tried rocking the steering wheel back and forth? Does it move downwards at all? Does it feel jammed at all?

Yes I have the manual and yes I have rocked the wheel many times but it will not move at all towards the #1 position

That's really weird... How long have you had the truck? Was it a Fleet car? How many miles?

Yeah my 96 had an accessory behind the lock position, with the release lever (5 Speed)

OP: my ignition is the same as yours and mines an 07.
Keep in mind mine has an Automatic transmission.

Furthest position towards the driver is Lock
Gear shift cannot be removed from Park no matter what.
Steering wheel locked.

First position forward is unlocked
(steering wheel can be moved and the brake pedal does not have to be pressed to move the gearshift from Park to any other gears)

Second position forward is On.
Must use the brake pedal to move the gearshift from Park to any other gears. Radio, cabin fan, instrument cluster has power. Steering wheel unlocked.

Third position is crank.
We all know what that does.

----------

I thought it was interesting that my 07 doesn't have an accessory position but I just turn the truck to *ON*

I've ran my radio for 3-4 hours while working on the truck and it doesn't kill the battery, fine by me.

A tutorial will be coming soon.

Guide on the key positions from my 2003 manual:

This is my '07 5spd exactly. Yes it has an accessory position.

That is interesting the ACC was missing as far back as 07 and they did not correct the manual. Mine was one of the last Rangers made (12/11) and I thought that might be the reason but apparently not. Thanks for the info...

Pretty sure you should have it. Sounds like something wrong with the key/locking mechanism. As for Tyler, trust his advice at your own risk. I really doubt that randomly some trucks just don't have it. Even though it is in the owners manual that it is there...

Ok, my thought is because it is a fleet which usually are short trips and yours is at 63k, the ignition may just be wearing out... Not really sure what to say at this point.

You saying that proves that after 07 the position was not removed. Thank you.

Apparently some have it and some don't. Another poster just said he did not as well so who knows. I wouldn't think it would wear out at that low of miles..rest of truck looks brand new..

In conclusion.

(*) The base model 5th generation 4 Bangers don't come with them (as some don't have tilt steering, cruise control, AM/FM etc) - like mine.

(*) Both yours and my lock cylinders are f*cked up

Can find no mention ever of a Ranger being made without accessory being available on the key. Multiple searches returned Rangers, F150, Broncos, all that reported this problem being fixed with a new switch install.

Conclusion: It is there but is broken and you are an idiot handing out bad advice once again.

Guys - it's really not that big of a deal, maybe it's broken, maybe it's some fleet thing. I just like to know the why's of things and sorry to drag it out like this.

I know it was only owned for about 4 years ..bought by a company in NJ but shipped to FLA. I saw several of them from the same company apparently being sold at the same time as mine (NJ>FLA).

Other than this minor issue, truck is super clean and real happy I bought it.
