For sure, the times they have a changed. Hell, in a few years they'll prolly even have a self driving version. Oh, the humanity.

I'm honestly surprised they are bringing it back. The sales of all the other "small" trucks are so low.

Doesn't seem too bad. But then this doesn't talk about margin, which is what it is about, not raw volume. Not to mention simply keeping people looking at a smaller truck in a Ford instead of not offering an option. And it works with Ford's overall strategy. Let's them move a high volume high margin vehicle to Mexico, make this here, keep UAW happy so they don't fuck with F150 production...

Year to date vs 2016 they are all down in sales.

month vs month they are all down in sales.

Canyon is down 13.1% and Colorado is down 5.4%

And they didnt really have good numbers to begin with to be honest.

But we'll see I guess.

The problem with the canyon and the colorado is how they look.

The taco is way more money but sells way better, now aside from obvious reasons it just plain looks better. It looks like a beefy little truck. Just like the ranger did. The current gm offerings are just way to weenie looking. Even the z71

even the Tacoma was down 5.4% though.

All midsize trucks are down in sales.

yeah, the GM twins are pretty ugly. but looks isn't why the Tacoma sells more than them. It's reputation.

Again, I don't think just raw numbers is the issue. How much margin can they make on each one. A number of years ago their highest profit vehicle was the Navigator. Sell one for every 3 or 4 economy cars, same profit, but only had to build, transport and sell one, employ a whole bunch fewer people as well. Raw sales numbers only mean so much. If it wasn't economically viable for them, they wouldn't be doing it.

There's a lot of fully decked out z71s here. I'm sure they make plenty of money on however many sell

I don't see why people would want a bed that small just to have four doors, at that point you're better off just buying an suv. The gm offering is very ugly, of course these are from a company that thinks the reaper is a good looking idea.

Looks are subjective, as proven by members here saying they like the look of the global ranger.
I happen to like the look of the z71 better than pretty much any global ranger I've seen.
I've had rangers, full size, SUV, you name it....at no point is there a reason to give up a bed, even if small, the go to an SUV, if you need the bed, even if it's small.
My Grand Cherokee SRT wasn't a small SUV, and an infinite amount of things went in my tiny ranger beds that wouldn't come close to fitting in the SRT

^^ what he said. Plenty of things can't or shouldn't go in an SUV

It's not like a ranger stepside bed was big anyways, you couldn't even carry a piece of plywood in it.

A guy was bragging about how long his Tacoma lasts. My buddy says his 93 Ranger has 323K on the clock and still going. End of conversation.
