To be honest, not just because I am entertaining a 4BT swap now, but If Ford didnt offer the new ranger in a diesel like its world vehicle counterpart. I wouldn't even consider looking at it whatsoever. I'd by another 93/97 again just because..

However, that being said. I cant see after all these years of keeping the diesel option away from the US market all these years to all of a sudden flip 180* and offer it ONLY now.

The two world market diesel option with a manual trans would be great and the only way I'd buy another truck at this point even though in almost every situation, the Automatic 4x4 has a lot of advantages over a manual trans more often than not. The manual trans has and always will be more fun to drive on top of the cost of ownership being simpler and a slight bit less.

We shall see what Ford brings to the table as a production vehicle for the US market. In 1995 I worked on the 98 Ranger/Explorer program as a wire tech building any and all harnesses and last minute 12 volt revisions whether for functional or NON function (static display models for engineering concepts).. You'd be surprised what is offered in ideas and conceptual means and then stripped away due to penny pinchers and bean counters vs Marketing demographic heresay

We should get the diesel. You can buy a diesel colorado/canyon so I see no reason ford wouldn't follow suit

Was wondering the same thing. Not only did I not see diesel mentioned in that article, I didn't see Ranger mentioned either.

Personally I would expect a small diesel option to be available, the same one that is in the Transit. And the manual only in the base version if at all. Expect either the 8 speed or 10 speed slushbox.

I'll gladly take an auto all day everyday. It's my daily.

There is NO WAY they would only release a diesel version. I assume there will be a Na version of some sort, an Ecoboost variant and the inline 5 diesel.

I expect to see the 3L diesel box thing that is in the 18' 150s IF THAT DOES WELL within the first couple years. Manual could happen right out of the starting gate in baselines but will probably go bye bye soon. 😟

Me? I didn't say anything.

----------

I posted an article about the commercial side of Ford and left a "Commercial Ranger?". As in, wondering if they'll be adding it to that line

I think the Ranger just needs to stay dead once and for all.
