Maybe where you're at but where I'm at there are Zero. There are very few Teslas here as well and I'm near Pinehurst.

I think they've built about 100k. IMO. They are coming and coming fast.. Might be here before the new Ranger. Elon will pull it off.
Just watched episodes 9 and 10 of BoB while responding to this thread. I've seen it before but boy is it awesome.

You guys are pretty thin skinned for being tough truck owners. I don't think the Ranger will be a success if it comes back. Call me a hater if it makes you feel better. There might be a chance a diesel Ranger could work but it takes a long time to build a solid following. That Corolla my daughter just bought might be good for 10 years without doing much to it. That's a long time before she might buy another new car. A lot of cars today have never been built better.
There's more competition then ever. Elon Musk sold 400k cars in a few weeks of a car that barely exists. Elon is talking about the idea of his cars lasting 500k miles. That's a lot of cars and a lot of miles.

Someone else learning economics does NOT translate to you knowing anything, sorry. False equivalency.
Things could change between now and then, and it might not sell a lot. But I will trust Ford more than you when it comes to this decision. Nothing personal.
Technically what he did was take advance orders. If he takes too long to deliver, those can begin to evaporate. He has a lot of market penetration to do still. We have a Tesla dealer here. Have for several years. And I have only seen about three Teslas.

I have little faith in Ford and a lot in Elon. Let's just agree to disgree. Time will tell what happens.
BoB is Band of Brothers. It's awesome!

I'll bow out of the thread so you boys can continue the Rangerpalooza festivities. Maybe I'll check back in when my Model 3 shows up. I'll leave you with this?
You guys are pretty bright so I'm sure you will grasp what I'm going to say. You might not agree but that's a different story. I think Teslas Model 3, the Taco, a possible EV transit type vehicle, potential Diesel engines in small trucks including the Tacoma, US emmisions standards, etc are all connected to whether the Ranger will succeed in the US. I don't think you can have a rational discussion about the Ranger without touching on these topics.
The details are still not figured out but if Elon sells a million Model 3's for 40k that you never have to pay to "refuel", are potentially autonomous and might last 300k miles? That is going to effect the Ford Ranger. I was at a NJ turnpike rest stop a few weeks ago. There was a Supercharger station there. About 5 chargers in total. The gas line at the rest stop was about a half hour wait. No line at the selfserve SC and no $$ at the SC.
If you think all I do is worship Toyota's you'd be wrong. After my daughter bought her Corolla I called the dealer to ask about the maintenance on the CVT. They had no idea about maintenence on it. They say it's lifetime. What does that mean? Toyota appears to be clueless about longterm care of the CVT. That's very disturbing.

I don't think there is anything intrinsically wrong with CVT's, they just have never found much following among Americans that like to feel shifts. I'm sure they have maintenance laid out for it, Toyota doesn't skip things like that.
Where does the power for your electric car come from? How long will you be able to find places willing to pay for your power use? How do they afford it? So the model 3 is not eligible for free charging. According to your buddy Elon. How does this fit in with your no-pay-to charge thing? I feel like there are a great many questions surround this that you not only have not answered, but you have never thought about. You sound like one of those west coast leftists, 'buy electric!' with no real thought behind it.
One more time, nobody cares what you like. It's your blatant hypocrisy over other that are interested in the new Ranger. Nobody gave two shits about you when people were coming on here saying they would buy one. It was once you started your 'taco taco taco!' drum of how you must be stupid to buy a Ranger. I'm trying to help you here, do you see the chain of events? I doubt it, but I tried.

Actually, I really don't understand and or agree with much of what youre saying and I'm fine with that.
I remember not to long ago watching a Harvard educated expert explain to me why the tablet like the iPad will never take off.
I do agree that the details of the Model 3 are murky.
I'm no lefty. Ronald Reagan was my fav potus.
A big reason CVT's are in US cars is because of MPG's.
I called Toyota about CVT maintenence. I talked to a service guy. He was clueless about CVT maintenence. That's disturbing IMO.
