Default My summer build

So last April I got a peace of shit truck for a shitty price of $900

It's doesn't show it in the picture but there was a huge rust hole on the drivers side part of the bumper.

Okay.... list of things that were rusted out:
•the bed box
•the frame
•both bumpers
•cab corners
•oil pan
•exhaust
•tailgate
•brake lines
•window sweeps

List of parts that needed replaced:
•upper and lower ball joints
•front wheel bearings
•wheels
•tires
•bumpers
•fuel neck (also rusted out)
•oil pan and gasket
•valve cover gaskets
•power steering lines and pump
•exhaust
•leaf spring
•brakes all around+rotors and drums
•parking brake cable
•brake lines
•spark plugs
•headlights and corner lights
•all of the fluids
•window sweeps $30 a piece!
•battery and battery terminals
•lots of bolts
•instrument cluster bulbs

By now you're probably thinking "wow it was a piece of shit"

First thing I did was remove the rotten power steering lines and tore the bumpers off. Then I gave it a nice wash and wax.

Then I attempted to fix the rusted out tailgate and found some frame rust

After that I found some wheels on Craigslist with bad tires and got them for $100 I also plasti dipped the grill black

Ordered myself the cheapest aftermarket bumper I could find online

Next came taking the bed off to patch it and the frame

Here's is my rotted out fuel neck
When it came time to patch the frame, I had to take the shackles off so I changed the busted leaf spring too
(patched it on both sides and later tacked it to the rails)
New headlights and corner lights all for $75 online (eagle eyes)

Next came the real frame patching

Painted the frame and got shocks. Made me and exhaust for $80. Sounds awesome
After that it was time to put the bed on. Sorry I don't have pictures of the repair done to it. I had to rebuild the front support and all of the sheet metal on the front part of the floor. Also had to patch about 10 spots
Then I painted under the body line black.(after I did the body work of course) I just rolled on rustoleum and it turned out great
Got some inspection stickers and insurance a few days later but I still wasn't done.

I painted the grill differently and got some snow tires. I also rustoleum peel coated my rims.

Added some light pods and a power antenna behind the cab.

It's not a piece of shit now haha

This looks like a lot less work than it was. I did so many other things to it that I didn't document. This thing took up my whole summer

Interesting start to the thread but I'll be the first subscriber!

Also nice work on fixing the thing instead of scrapping it like a bunch of people would have done!

Nice truck dude!! So you just rustoliumed the rims? How's it holding up?

I'm from the Harrisburg area, but pretty much my whole family is out that way.

Last summer haha. It's holding up great actually and their peel coat sits way flatter than plasti dip. It's cheaper than plasti dip too. Thanks for the compliment.

Wow what a project, alot of people would see a truck ready for the scrap pile, but you gave it a second life. That's pretty awesome.
