Accident
On May 8th while traveling on the WB 134 freeway I was involved in an accident, after filing a claim with my insurance company they tried to delcare my truck totaled.
I disagreed with them and was able to have the truck repaired but now since it was decalred "totalted" the truck is now considerd a "salvage vehicle"
Why does my truck now need to be declared a salvage vehicle?.

its considered a salvage repair now because it was repaired after in was declared totaled. both my ranger and my F-150 are salvage titled, its really no big deal.

Re: Accident
It's totaled, because the cost of paying a shop to do the work is more than 75-80% of the value of the truck. Every insurance company has their own percentage they use. My Ranger is "totaled", but no salvage title, and only cost $150 to make drivable and legal again.

it depends on what the insurance claim person says about the damage of the vehicle and also what the repair shops quote for the fix so it can change from area to area
oh and as far as i can tell the only negative aspect of a salvage title is that your not going to be able to get crap for it from a dealer and you must tell anyone you sell the salvage vehicle too that it is a salvage vehicle

Re: Accident
My faince's car has a salvage title, no problems here. If you never told anyone, who would be the wiser? (unless you;re selling, you better tell...lol)

Because it's now a "salvage" vehicle why do I have to be issued new plates?.

Re: Accident
I bought a Ranger that has a slavage title and I have had no problems. A friend of mine deals alot with that as well. You pay the insurance company your deductable, probably about 500.00 to keep the truck. You make the repairs needed and you have to get it inspected by a certified technician to make sure its road worthy, thats why you need new tags, new title means new tags for that. I went through that process because i bought my truck in NY and had to register it in PA, it went smooth and judging by your damages it will be easy for you as well. Salvage titles aren't that bad, except if you try to re-sell the truck you are required to tell the people it is a salvage title and you may not get as much as you would in book value
