So finally got round to swapping on a stepside bed, freshly painted one at that. Bedliner in it too.
Old and busted:
Bolts were rusted beyond the point of being able to remove them normally.
But thats what the grinder was invented for, right?
I'm no mechanic, but I don't think its supposed to look like that.
This is what happens from pool chemicals dripping out of the bed. Funny how an oxidizer oxidizes metal.
Frame isn't too bad otherwise. Will make another thread discussing the possibility of replacing that center spare tire holder piece with one from a junkyard ranger. Looks like its just riveted on?
Unfortunately by the time we got enough people to lift the new bed into place and battened down the hatches it was dark so no pictures of the thing till tomorrow.
The bumper was too big so it just got a few cuts made to it so the step-side fit in. Hopefully it gets replaced with a proper stepside or tube bumper but the frame is more of a concern right now.
PS: Lost one of the tiny plastic bed rail screw covers, anyone got a spare I can have? Also need 4 factory bed hooks and screws to go with them.
EDIT: Morning pictures added a couple posts down!
