I replaced all the bolts/clips because I didn't want to deal with that headache again. Removing the bed took no time but required my neighbor to help me lift it off.

The fuel pump was easy. Undo the ring. Pull entire assembly out, put entire new assembly in. Use new gasket, and tighten the lock ring. Connect everything back up and start the truck. My stock OEM pump lasted 17 years at around 180k miles. I bought an entire new OEM assembly because I didn't think it was worth it to only change the pump. Figured it's much easier if the entire assembly is replaced and just drops right in.

You can get the assemblies cheaper by not going OEM but I figured if the OEM one lasted that long then a new oem would be just as good. I will note that the new assembly isn't nearly as loud as the old one. I used to be able to hear it whine at start up.. That's not the case with the new one. So I am guessing they changed things over the years.

*I will note if you think yours is going out, change it before it leaves you stranded somewhere. My truck didn't start one day in the parking garage at work. I let it sit for 5 minutes then it started and ran fine. Had it gone out here in the parking garage I would have been screwed since a tow truck can't get in because of low ceilings.

Cool, ive already replaced bed bolts so fuel pump woknt be hard to get to!

Yea lol, mine is similar but the beds picked up a little in the front because i had to cut the frame bed mount nut/bracket off and new one was thicker, very easy to tell on this truck!

finnaly was nice enough out to paint cab roof of truck silver, turned out good but the tailgate turned out even better. when i first made the bed a two-tone i did the tailgate first and it ended up being a lighter shade of blue than the rest of it. I had removed the blue oval emblem and filled the emblem locater holes in with jb weld, had thought about putting the " F O R D" letters across the back like they did in the 70's and on early rangers but just hadnt got around to it yet. well today i got the bright idea to do it with paint. i cleaned and lightly sanded the tailgate, taped off the silver areas and the tailgate handle, then laid down wood letters on the tailgate, then sprayed with the darker color blue, letting the wood letters mask the lighter blue paint i had used before. i then took the letters off and the tape then clearcoated over it all. think it turned out pretty good. hopefully the roof of the truck being silver will help reflect the suns heat in the summer, much like the reason above ground gas tanks are painted silver. since this is a non-a/c truck, every little bit may help.

Ordered a complete set of Rancho shocks for mine. Right front just beginning to leak.
Not installed yet. Have thought about having them done for me.
Only because I had undergone cataract surgery recently. No bending, heavy lifting etc...
wasnt gonna do anything to mess up my vision!

Now, there's 5 days of cold, rain and possible light snow!

And should have new headlights, taillights and 3rd brake light shipped out tomorrow.

One question: Is it easier to pull tire(s) when changing shocks? Making access easier to mounting hardware?
Looks like it would make hardware access easier!

Figure once it warms up again, I'll have the parts/pieces I ordered, and can start doing the work needed.
Information appreciated.
Thanks.

Keith, I haven't done shocks on my '07, but '98 I did it several times, plus other vehicles over the years. I never pulled the wheel, I just slid under the truck.

Now, if they are the original shocks, you might want to give all the hardware a shot of PB Blaster a day in advance, just to help. The lower front hardware always seemed to be a little unfriendly in that manner.

Appreciate the advice! Still have original parts, to my knowledge!
I've never changed anything, yet! Last oil change, I was told right
front shock was just starting to leak. Not real important yet.
Still responded OK, to bounce test. Figured I'd go ahead and replace now.

Have new hardware for the front.
Being required to reuse the rear end hardware though!
Depending on how the rear comes apart, I've thought
about getting new hardware to replace the original.
Using the oft recommended Grade 8 or better nuts/bolts etc...
Have time to wait. Started raining a bit earlier. Cold and rotten
for the next 4-5 days, last I heard.
Thanks again.

Redid my front/rear shocks and upper/lower ball joints last weekend. 2011 manual 2.3l with 120k miles. Bought in 2015 with 35k miles on it.

YAY used FORScan to successfully program PATS on my 01'. I have had two keys with it when I bought it years ago. One would start the truck, the other didn't. Read up on how to do it on their forum and then erased both known keys. Then programmed the same two keys and now have two fully functional keys to start the truck...w00t w00t! I ordered a spare so when that comes in I will have it cut and then I can just program it normally by putting in the first key, then second key, then the spare.
If you haven't used FORScan, highly recommend!

Got my lighting supplies today!
New headlights, brake lights and 3rd brake light.
If I feel OK tomorrow, I might start working on installing
the brake lights. Might look into pro install for headlights, since it's highly recommended!
And shocks when it dries out a bit and warms up more! Before too long, I'm hoping.
